Modders have until August 5 to request their mod files be deleted. It can definitely be frustrating when a long chain of dependency is broken because a mod gets deleted, but if you're a modder and you decide you simply don't want your mod to be available on Nexus Mods anymore, for whatever reason, it intuitively seems like you should have the ability to delete it (as you can on ModDB or the Steam Workshop-the latter of which also has a mod collections feature).įor modders who want to nope out of Nexus Mods, they can. I'm a frequent mod user and not a mod author, but as much as I think collections could be a great feature (it's not available yet), it's not hard to see why some mod authors are so upset. The files won't be directly accessible or downloadable for users, or even displayed on the site, though the archived files will still be accessible through the collections feature. Instead, a modder who wants their files removed will only be able to archive them. See this Microsoft Support article for an example. The solution Nexus Mods came up with is to no longer allow uploaded mod files to be deleted. To remove to Vortex, you will uninstall it from your computer like any other app. This can be useful to remove leftover empty directories from mods Vortex had managed.įor this option to appear, you will need to enable advanced mode.Ĭlicking the "Purge" icon will remove all Vortex managed items from your game mods folder. This step will remove all the files/folders created by Vortex from the mods directory of your game. From here you can delete the files or move them to a new location. Navigate to the Settings > Download tab and beneath the "Download Path" header there is a clickable link that will open your download path folder. If you did not choose to remove archives in the previous step or you would like to keep the archives for reinstalling mods in future, you can delete them or move them to a new location from within Vortex's download folder. Note: Leaving the archive intact will not remove it from the mods view in Vortex, it will be marked as uninstalled instead. You will need to do this for each game Vortex is managing. After confirming, Vortex may take a few seconds to delete the requested files. In the delete popup, you will have the option to also remove the archive which was used to install the mod. This will reveal the batch menu at the bottom of the window.įrom here, click the "Remove" button. In the Mods section, click on one of your files and press Ctrl + A to select all mods. This will clear out the install path of all files Vortex has installed. If you want to stop using Vortex entirely, you may also want to remove all mods installed by Vortex. These steps are not required but for a full removal of your mods, you can follow some or all of these steps.
